Invisalign moves your teeth using a series of custom-made, virtually invisible aligners instead of wires and brackets. You wear each set for around 20 to 22 hours a day and swap to the next one as your treatment progresses, so your teeth move a fraction at a time. Most people you meet simply won’t notice you’re wearing them.
Because the aligners come out, there is no list of foods to avoid and no threading floss around brackets — you brush and clean between your teeth exactly as you do now. Take them out for a meal, a meeting or a photograph, then put them straight back in. That is what makes Invisalign so much easier to live with than a fixed brace.

If your case is treated by our specialist orthodontist, Invisalign Lite starts from £2,000 for a single arch and £2,500 for both, and Invisalign Comprehensive from £4,500. Most adult cases take between six and eighteen months, depending on how far your teeth need to move. Minor crowding or relapse after teenage braces can be finished more quickly; a fuller bite correction takes longer. We’ll give you a realistic timescale at your consultation, before you decide to go ahead.
Most patients describe pressure rather than pain. Each new aligner feels tight for a day or two as it starts to move your teeth, then settles. Because there are no wires or brackets, you avoid the rubbing and mouth ulcers that fixed braces can cause.
Around 20 to 22 hours a day. They come out to eat, to drink anything other than water, and to clean your teeth — everything else, including sleeping, you wear them. Wearing them less than this is the single most common reason treatment runs over.
Yes. You take the aligners out to eat, so nothing is off the menu — unlike fixed braces, where hard and sticky foods are a problem. Only water should be drunk with the aligners in, as hot drinks can warp them and anything sugary or coloured will sit against your teeth.
Yes, and this matters. Teeth continue to move throughout life, so retainers are what keep your result. Retainers are included in the £3,900 dentist-led package, and we’ll show you exactly how and when to wear them.
There is no upper age limit. What matters is that your teeth and gums are healthy, so if you have active gum disease we’ll treat that first. We regularly straighten teeth for patients in their forties, fifties and beyond.
